Some Useful Essential Oils for Dogs We Recommend

Lavender (Lavandula angustafolia)
The best oil to have when stranded on a desert island.

Properties: Calming, analgesic, relieves itching, anti-bacterial, aids in skin healing and regeneration.
Use for: Ear infections, cuts, scrapes, incisions, burns, deodorizing

Niaouli (Melaleuca viridiflora)
This versatile oil is a relative of the popular Tea Tree, but gentler to use.

Properties: Anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, immuno-stimulant
Use for: Ear infections, skin problems, respiratory conditions, deodorizing, insect repelling

Roman chamomile (Anthemis nobilis)
Roman chamomile has long enjoyed its reputation for being a superior skin soother.

Properties: anti-inflammatory, sedative, analgesic
Use for: Ear infections, calming, soothing skin problems

Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens)
A sweet smelling skin-soother and natural tick repellent (with lavender and myrrh)

Properties: anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, skin tonic, insect repellent
Use for: Repelling ticks, skin problems, deodorizing, fungal conditions

Peppermint (Mentha piperita)
As most peppermint is industrial-grade, a high quality source is imperative!

Properties: analgesic, anti-bacterial, insect repelling
Use for: Massaging sore joints, freshening breath, relieving motion sickness (with Ginger), repelling fleas, flies and mosquitoes

Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis)
An excellent deodorizer and natural flea repellent.

Properties: Calming, deodorizing, flea repelling
Use for: flea repelling (combine with Peppermint in shampoos or sprays), Calming blends

Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea)
Intensely calming without the possible toxicity of common Sage (Salvia Officinalis)

Properties: Calming, repels fleas and flies, deodorizing
Use for: Calming fear and anxiety, insect repelling, deodorizing

Carrot Seed (Daucus carota)
This oil has an affinity for dry or sensitive skin.

Properties: Stimulates skin regeneration, skin tonic and revitalizer
Use for: Topical blends for skin problems such as dry, itchy skin, healing incisions

Thyme linalol (Thyme vulgaris ch. linalol)
Strong antibacterial without irritation. (Must be linalol chemotype. Red or White Thyme can burn the skin!)

Properties: Anti-bacterial
Use for: Ear infections, skin problems, cleaning wounds, bites, abrasions

Atlas Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica)
A deep, woody intense oil with a multitude of uses.

Properties: Anti-bacterial, Anti-fungal, insect repelling, deodorizing
Use for: Skin and coat problems, flea repelling, in shampoos and coat conditioners blended with Lavender, Sweet orange and Niaouli
